Blood Makes the Grass Grow, 2022
Solo exhibition, FOYER-LA, Los Angeles, CA
I built a set of stairs that spanned the gallery’s width and height, allowing the viewer to either enter a small partition at the opposite end of the gallery to view the underside of the stairs, where a screen was playing a series of videos, or climb the stairs to the top of the gallery, where five potted Morning Glory vines sat inset on a plywood platform and continued to grow down the stairs through the duration of the exhibition.

During the last 40 nights my daughter lived at home before moving to college, I filmed the vines growing in the dark of our back porch. She composed a score responding to each video and we sang them together. They played in sequence under the stair installation.
